I also use Toggl and love it. Tracking this past Saturday, I found I actually spent less time on “miscellaneous computer stuff” than I thought I would and more time editing. I was coming up on a deadline though which may have accounted for my heightened focus. For the future, I’d like to break down the misc. into business and personal and also track time away from the computer. I often think I’ve worked a solid eight hours and then toggl lets me know I only got in a few hours of actual editing time. Maybe it’s taking me longer than I think to put a load of laundry in…?

Here’s mine, currently in my living room. Once my kids get the stuff they store here out of my house, I’d like to set up more of an office. Next step is to get a dedicated bookcase for my editing books.

I haven’t had a chance to read through all the included templates, but I love the “How we can help each other” one. I really struggle with asking for reviews/testimonials and this will be so helpful. Also, I’ve known I need something to send to explain my process. I’m excited to work with a few of these over the weekend. One thought: I had been working pretty regularly with a publisher and then, nothing. I wanted to contact them to see if they were still interested in sending me work but wasn’t entirely sure how to go about it. Not sure how much that comes up for others, but a template for “Hi, I’m still here and happy to do work for you.” would be helpful. Happy ending: I did email and am now doing work for them again.

This is all really great stuff – thank you so much. I’m keeping a running list of things I want to do on my site so I’ll come back and digest this more thoroughly. Yes – I’ve been thinking that quotation mark is a bit in your face too – haha – it’s big! I will definitely put some thought into what else I can do there. I think that was part of the original Wix template I used.

Feedback is welcome! I did this about a year and a half ago and I know it’s badly in need of updating.
I work with a couple of publishers – would you recommend seeing if I can include their logos on my site? Also, I’m a member of ACES and will be joining EFA momentarily – I’m guessing we’re allowed to, and it would be a good idea to, put their logos on there too.

I used Wix for mine. I found it easy, and actually fun, to create my site. I can’t remember which domain name site I used – I ended up just using my name as my URL since I wasn’t creative enough to come up with something I liked that wasn’t already in use.
